Danzig and His Cats
Glenn Danzig is the President of the World Headquarters of the World
And in that headquarters, he holds a never ending dance party of hell. In this Smalldoggies Feature, Matt Ferner and Matty Byloos attempt to locate every photograph ever taken of the mythological Glenn Danzig, and pay tribute to this half-human half-evil legend by telling everyone what he may have been thinking at the time. Almost every Wednesday, they invite you into this Danzig party, where you too may attempt to get closer to the thing of dark by thinking like a Danzig.
Matty Byloos: Danzig Diary, Dated December 31, 2009: “I like cats. I like black things. Therefore, it follows that I like black cats. When I get upset, it usually happens because of things like — there’s an orange and white cat on my box of Fresh Step, and not a black cat. My car is named after a cat. A big cat. But not a big black cat. Because jaguars are not black, I have a slight resentment toward them. But I fixed that. When it came time for me to buy a jaguar cat car, I got a black one. I go to the store in my black cat. I buy litter for my black cat. I wear black. There are eyes like a skull staring out at everyone from the front of my tee-shirt, walking down the same aisles in the grocery store as me, looking at mostly the same things as me. Yes, they are eyes set deep within the black skull of a ghostly black cat. You are correct. Happy now?”
