Information on Our Special Guests

Derrick Brown, former paratrooper for the 82nd Airborne, gondolier, magician and fired weatherman, now travels the world and performs his written work. From Long Beach, CA, he is dedicated to bringing American poetry into rock and roll status.
As a poet, he has toured or performed with indie rock act Cold War Kids, comedian David Cross, Richard Swift, and at the All Tomorrow’s Parties festival with the Flaming Lips and Animal Collective.
To date, Brown has performed at over 1500 venues and universities internationally.
He is the president of Write Bloody Publishing.

Frances Dinger’s fiction has been published in New Wave Vomit and For Every Year, and she has been featured in the “Eye Reading Series” for Driving Home Press with work forthcoming elsewhere, including a chapbook titled “All of This is Nothing” from Housefire, an imprint of Metazen.
She has interviewed Rainn Wilson (“Dwight Schrute” from The Office), Mike Young (author of Look! Look! Feathers) and xTx, among others. She was the script supervisor on the award winning short film “Quarters.”

Rob Noble is a writer, editor and video guru whose past clients include Showtime (Weeds), AMC (Mad Men) Marvel, BeautyTV, Tivo, Disney, FOX and NBC-Universal. He lives and works in Portland, OR and is a contributing writer to popstrike. You may also Facebook him, if that’s more your speed.
Small Doggies Viewfinder columnist Rob Noble will be presenting “I Say Shazam! Elvis, Captain Marvel Jr. and the Origins of Cosplay,” a sub-textual analysis that includes a video presentation.
